As a forum for professional feedback and discussion regarding articles published in Blood, submissions of e-Letters are open to all researchers and health care professionals with expertise and interest in hematology and related fields. Membership in the American Society of Hematology or a subscription to Blood is not required for e-Letter submission. Our intention is to publish all e-Letters that contribute substantially and constructively to a discussion of the article; however, the journal reserves the right to refuse to publish any e-Letter. Unprofessional, confrontational, libelous, or poorly written submissions will not be considered or responded to. To avoid redundancy, we urge you to read other people’s e-Letters before submitting your own. We will reject e-Letters that make points that are significantly overlapping with previous contributions. E-Letters must include no more than 10 authors, 300 words of text, 5 references, and 1 table (you must format it on your own using HTML or else not include one). Figures cannot be included in e-Letters. Name, current appointment, place of work, and e-mail address are required to submit an e-Letter and will be published with your review. We also require that you declare any competing financial interests.
e-Letters are not a forum for solicitation of medical advice. If you want information about blood diseases or if you need assistance in finding a hematologist, please visit www.bloodthevitalconnection.org.
Click the “e-Letter: Submit a Response” link located in the content box to the right of the article. Following ensuing instructions.
e-Letters submitted as Text will be formatted for you. To ensure that your response is not formatted as one long paragraph, precede new paragraphs with either a blank line or an indentation. Your exact spacing is not retained when submitted as text.
e-Letters submitted as HTML are not going to be formatted by Blood staff except to make necessary corrections. Otherwise, only the formatting you provide will be used in the display of your e-Letter. If you wish to include a table in your e-Letter, the entire e-Letter must be in HTML; the table itself must be tagged as an HTML table; and the “HTML” button must be selected. Figures cannot be accommodated.
